What is a Henbel: Henbel is a way fo making a rug in any size, a runner or just a large piece of thin wool cloth. Originally, Small Atlas women made them to put on their shoulders or use them as blankets during winter because it snows in that region, later they started make them as rugs

Story

Aicha is the perfect example of Moroccan super berber women. Yes, Super Women. if any of us visits the berber villages in the small atlas mountains we will be highly impressed with the role women take in shaping that culture. They embrace what we would describe as "the harsh life style" in those villages. They're usually the bread winners of the house hold, the decision makers and they are skillful. Aicha is a well known lady in that region, she makes, buys,  and sells rugs in weekly markets.

She shows up at 4 AM and sets up her tent and hangs all the rugs she's selling, this Hanbel Runner is made by Aicha's friend Fatima, she introduced her to me, I was impressed with Aicha's entrepreneurial spirit. She spoke with Fatima in berber language ( I understand just few words here and there) she told her that this man is not going to bargain as that's the culture in Morocco and make sure he gets a good price.

We want to thank you in advance for considering purchasing one of these art pieces and doing your part to keep the handmade rug tradition alive.

As a Moroccan-American, small business owner with family roots that are  from this region, I am committed to giving back to these villages and keeping these traditions alive.

Cleaning -  With proper care, this rug will last for many years. We recommend to vacuum sideways once per week. If there is a spill, spot-clean immediately with a wet towel. In some instances, professional cleaning is recommended. Pure wool rugs love sunshine. If you can expose them to the sun, they will appreciate it.
